Fused Glass and Culinary Weekends

How would it feel if a chef’s culinary creation was served to you on a glass plate that you created?

“A rich and abundant experience where the food tastes better and beautiful food on beautiful plates is more enhanced because it is your glass creation.”

I’ve partnered with top culinary chefs to facilitate a collaborative two-day adventure of glass art creation and a unique gastronomic experience.

Over two days, you will experience a workshop to make a unique appetizer plate or tray out of fusible glass, followed by a delightful afternoon of education as our guest chef shares his knowledge and creativity through a culinary demonstration. The experience is complete when their creations are served to you on your own unique glass creation.

Learn two ancient arts, culinary and glass fusion in one weekend, and feel like you had an unique getaway without travelling far.

Our glassware and culinary events for 2024 are sold out. Sign up for our newsletter to stay informed about more memorable events.

Dan Hayes, The London Chef
  • Tom Kral

Over 25 years of professional cooking experience and a bloodline of cooks has evolved Tom Kral into Nature’s Chef.

From a child growing up in a European deli and spending time at the family cottage, camping and foraging played a important role of his life that developed a deep connection with nature.

Following his passion for cooking it led him down a path of being trained by some of the world’s best chefs, then to owner of a renowned restaurant and catering business in Toronto, ON.

After a chef burn-out and an awakening he finally came to settle in supernatural BC because of the irresistible call of the wild. His passion for putting medicine back into our food quickly grew into a whole new genre of dining experience, which he delivers to others through edutainment.

  • Susan has over 20 years’ experience as a fused glass artist and instructor. She offers people a chance to explore their creativity using a 6000 year old art form.

Susan set aside her childhood passion for art while pursuing a post-secondary teaching career. Decades later her creative soul longed to burn more brightly.

After experiencing abject terror and championing the inner voice, “What if I’m not artistic?”, Susan began years of instruction by talented glass art teachers, honing her skills, testing her limits by entering challenging juried art shows.

Susan now combines her teaching and artistic talents with a deep understanding of what it feels like to be afraid to express creativity. Her workshops are imaginative, skillfully planned, relaxing and fun.

  • Dan Hughes

Dan has worked with talented chefs in Michelin-starred restaurants throughout Europe, styled food for Britain’s leading food photographers, and consulted on restaurant openings in London and the Canaries Isles.

While teaching a class in London over a decade ago, Dan met Micayla, they fell in love, got married, and returned to Micayla’s home, Victoria, BC. Together they started a business and a family.

For the past decade, he has expanded his philosophy around great food in Victoria, BC, and seen on APTN as the co-host of Moosemeat and Marmalade, a show bringing two very different chefs together to explore culture, culinary traditions and great food.

Fast forward a decade, the London Chef is Victoria’s premier cooking school, having taught over 2000 cooking classes to an audience of over 100,000 students.

“You are not only an amazing artist but a 'true' teacher. Your presentation had such a lovely, natural flow, making your workshop really compelling, rich and a memorable experience. To fuse this with Tom's ingenuity as a nature chef, is such a brilliant coming together. I left feeling incredibly inspired and fulfilled”
