Voices of the 21st Century: Women Transforming the World

I believe in the value of storytelling. There’s no denying that the more we share our perspectives and ideas, the more we see ourselves in others.

I Said YES and Look What Happened!

I am beyond excited and so very proud to announce … I am now an Amazon #1 Best Selling Co-Author!

Our book Voices of the 21st Century: Women Transforming the World made the Amazon #1 Bestseller list in four countries!! In Canada #1 in Women in Business (Books) and Women's Biographies (Kindle Store).

I was inspired to share my story in the anthology Voices of the 21st Century: Women Transforming the World with 44 other women. And, oh my! The stories are all different, incredibly uplifting, and inspiring.

I’m sometimes asked, why art? Why such a strong passion for uplifting women? What stopped me cold in my tracks and how did I become proudly unpredictable, wild, and a little bit dangerous? I have told my story from the stage and airwaves many times but never in writing. This book became a scary personal challenge whose time had come.

In my chapter, Firing the Imposter, I share some of my innermost secrets:

  • What happens if you don’t fire your imposter, the one who says at 3:00 am, “remember, you can’t do THAT” or ”you aren’t really good enough to try…”?

  • A way to fire your imposter for good.

  • What could happen if you fully express yourself?

  • The most important thing to do to have an impact on the world!

Why did I say HELL YES!

Sometimes I ask myself … why did I say ‘hell yes’ to co-authoring a chapter for Voices of the 21st Century: Women Transforming the World?

It all comes down to 4 big reasons:

Deb Alcadinho and Business 4 Social Good

Plain and simple, my good friend Deb Alcadinho, of Business 4 Social Good, asked me to. Deb challenged me to tell my story about why art … why not until age 47 and really, why at all? She pointed out that I am having an impact on others as I use my art to help uplift others. I trust my friend’s judgment.

Deb has her own chapter in the book called, Soul Lights Shining Brightly in which she shares her deeply personal story of a heavy-handed father and the experience of an abusive relationship at a young age. But mostly she shares how while these experiences diminished her soul’s light, she has found her life’s purpose to help solve the issue of violence against women and has created a business that challenges other business owners to become visionaries in solving problems they are passionate about. I invite you to visit her website.

The Fearful Challenge

I love a challenge! I have told my story from the stage and airwaves (many times!) but never in writing. This became a personal challenge whose time had come, thanks to Deb's loving prodding. Ok… maybe pushing, at times. I was scared about writing.

My chapter is dedicated to the six people who loved and mentored me so I could write from my heart and at a professional level. This type of open-hearted writing is so different from the gazillion executive summaries and curriculum documents that were such a big part of my world at one time.

Butterfly in Transformation

The theme of the book is women transforming the world and highlights the butterfly, a universal symbol of transformation.

As many of you know, my passion is to uplift women with my art and my foundation for design is the butterfly.

The book opens with a famous quote from Maya Angelou — “We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.

The 45 chapters take us behind the scenes to witness the changes others have experienced and see ourselves in their struggles and triumphs.

A Fortuitous Date

And…lastly, the live launch is Feb 21, my 70th birthday!

This kind of sealed the deal as it was simply too many ‘signs’ to ignore this time! So… I felt the fear and did it anyway, never to be the same again.

What You Can Expect?

Here are some early reviews from those that have purchased the book:

“Wow. Reading Susan Isaac's and Narges Nirumvala's stories of hitting the wall and rebounding - and the hard inner work that took - is a reminder that it's never too late to choose a path that will bring joy, that it can be done.” Amazon Review Feb 15, 2023

“All these women were on a heroine’s journey and came out with the prize. Great book. Lots of useful life-tips. A must read.” Amazon Review Feb 10, 2023

“As I read the stories, I realize what a powerful time we are living in, especially for women.
This is a book for the soul. It's written by women, but the shared experiences are relatable to all.” Amazon Review Feb 16 23

May these stories make your heart soar and may you never be the same again!

Thanks to the Women Speakers Association for their tremendous support through this process. And thanks to you dear reader and friend for all you do.
